How to Use a Basic Calculator

Everyday Arithmetic Made Easy

A basic calculator handles the four fundamental operations of arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Whether you're splitting a dinner bill, checking your change at the store, or helping with homework, a reliable calculator saves time and eliminates errors. Our calculator also supports percentage calculations, square roots, and sign changes — covering the vast majority of daily math needs without the complexity of a scientific model.

Memory Functions Explained

Memory functions (M+, M−, MR, MC) let you store a number and recall it later — useful for multi-step calculations. Press M+ to add the current display value to memory, M− to subtract from it, MR to recall the stored value, and MC to clear memory. For example, if you're totaling several receipts, store each subtotal with M+ and recall the running total with MR at the end.

Keyboard Shortcuts for Power Users

You don't need to click buttons — just type. Use number keys and standard operators (+, −, *, /) on your keyboard. Press Enter or = to evaluate, Escape to clear, and Backspace to delete the last digit. Keyboard input is especially handy when you're working through a long series of calculations quickly.
